As mixed-race individuals, we navigate a number of complex experiences. Many of us carry not only the colonized, but also the colonizer within our bloodline. We know all too well the pain that comes with oppression, racism, and ignorance. We feel it in our own bodies, and we are deeply connected to the traumas endured by our ancestors and family members.
Alongside that, many of us also hold privileges that complicate how we show up in the world. Whether it's colorism, European beauty standards, proximity to whiteness, or access to generational wealth and education, privilege begs to be acknowledged and tended to.
So, how do we balance our privilege and pain in a healthy and authentic way? How do we ensure we’re not perpetuating racism, colorism, or white supremacy? And how can we make space for the very real racism, oppression, and trauma we experience as mixed people?
These are the questions we’ll explore together in the Privilege & Pain Workshop...
In this 2-hour, trauma-informed workshop, Mixed in America co-founders Meagan & Jazmine guide participants through reflective exercises, storytelling, and discussion to help unpack the complexities of being mixed in America. You’ll also be introduced to our core M.I.A. framework for navigating the duality of privilege and pain as a multiracial person.
Acknowledge your unique racialized experiences, pain points and mixed challenges
Take responsibility for the privileges you may hold
Break cycles of internalized oppression, colorism, and supremacy
Honor your whole, authentic identity with compassion and clarity
Carry the duality of privilege and pain with integrity

"The Pain and Privilege series that I participated in was truly transformational. I was able to feel connected right away with everyone in the group and truly appreciated the safe and brave space that Jazmine and Meagan provided. Their knowledge is vast and I would absolutely recommend this program to all mixed race folks."
"This workshop empowered, educated and helped me start to heal. Not only have I connected with a group of people who share many similar experiences as I do being multi-racial, but I have felt incredibly supported and cared for when navigating difficult topics such as racial privilege, pain from feeling "not enough", racism, and feeling judged by seemingly everyone.."
“I am still unpacking all that I've learned from the Privilege & Pain workshop, and will for the rest of my life. I entered the program hoping for some frameworks and language to begin working through the experience of being mixed race, and came out with things I didn't know I needed: validation and community."
